Short notes
The mapping session surfaced that we had three spellings for the same supplier code. Fixing that alone saved a day a month—even before the script.
They declined to automate our approval emails because managers were skipping steps. Awkward meeting, but the right call.
Runbook is in English and isiZulu side by side. New interns follow it without sitting on my lap.
Case: creditor file from two POS exports
The client merged nightly POS CSVs by hand, dropping rows when tills used legacy SKU formats. FlowCrest mapped the exception paths with branch managers present, then delivered a Python script that normalises SKUs and outputs a single creditor upload. Parallel runs covered a month-end and a public holiday weekend when staffing was thin.
Outcome: month-end file ready by 09:00 instead of mid-afternoon; one branch still performs a manual spot-check by policy, not because the script failed.
Case: payroll extract for hospitality floats
Lara led a remote engagement after a mapping call. Tips and float adjustments lived in separate sheets; the script aligns pay periods and flags rows where hours exceed signed rosters. Handover included a supervised run during a live pay week—stressful, but the payroll clerk asked for a repeat session which we included.
